If We All Gave A Hand

We all make our entrances into this world naked, we’re all the same,

an individual, though part of an inter-connected community.

Born into wealth or poverty;  obscurity or acclaim,

when you make your introduction, there’s no immunity.

Be kind and tolerant to others,

you haven’t walked in their shoes, or know their troubles.

Extend good will, and  try to understand,

make a gesture, and volunteer: start to give a damn  about your fellow-man.

When we come together and work in unity,

you’re rewarded ten-fold, the sense of satisfaction;  your gratuity.

From every walk of life; friends, strangers and neighbors,

planning and  gathering, sharing in their labors.

Coming together for the common good,

putting differences aside. If together we stood; as we should,

Just think what we could accomplish and achieve,

with hope and if we believe.

A movement starts with an idea and spreads,

we all share the same concerns; common threads.

If everyone gave a hand, instead of sticking their heads in the sand,

we could bridge the gap, that creates division,

come together to improve the condition.

Big and small towns, all across the country,

people are starving, they are hungry.

Eagerly working, waiting for change;  striving to make a difference,

with determination, and persistence, a collective experience.

All of us, the human family; are one,

when you vanquish fear, nothing is impossible under the sun.

It’s amazing what can be done.

Demand injustice end,

the wounds of the past must heal and mend.

The problems we face are many,

but we are many; a community.

What we could do, given the opportunity.

The time  has come to get vocal, make yourself heard,

there’s importance and weight to every word.

Whether a small town, or a city large,

we must all send a message to those in charge.

  2. It is true Apple, if we all would accept each other as we are, and put aside every thing that divides us like race, gender, religion and ethnicity, we would be capable of achieving so much, but sadly we are miles apart and the distance is so great, I can’t see everyone merging, coming to an understanding, becoming tolerant and feeling empathy for those they have grievances with. Those grievance are for the most part just fed by fear, and that fear is fed by people who do not want that to happen. Their agenda is the exact opposite. They do this for power and profit and they have a feeling of elitism.I don’t know how you get rid of that.
