Wake Up

Too much saturation and exaggeration,

there’s no substance, just empty essence.

Too awake to dream,

too asleep to awake,

absent a glimmer or a gleam.

The shake of an earthquake,

topples and tumbles.

You’re sure you’re secure,

while all that is around you crumbles.

Is there anything that will endure?

We’re fragile creatures.

Wise teachers,

have done their best,

to dissuade us from conquest.

We’ve taken some steps,

not always with the best effects.

A step ahead,  a step backward,

no one even noticed it occurred.

A culmination of discord, and frustration,

feel the pressure of obligation.

We have the tendency, for dependency,

Drugs of every kind, to numb our mind.

There’s to much to digest,

it’s questionable how much we’ve progressed.

There’s pushers on the streets, and wearing suits,

hand in hand, they’re all in cahoots.

Profit margin, margin of error,

the unfortunates, shriek in terror.

Control the masses in subtle ways,

they wont notice it in their daze.

Man up on the television screen,

another cog in the wheel, part of the machine.

Brainwashed viewers hypnotized,

to all the horrors desensitized.

The crippled in body and spirit, forever maimed,

while bloody victories are acclaimed.

This nightmare dystopia,

portrayed as a picturesque cornucopia.

Where are the heroes on the white stallions,

liberating the enslaved, with their battalions?

A noble and right cause,

should garner applause.

We hold our tongues, when we should speak,

we suddenly become meek.

Dim the lights, ignore the sights.

We go from land to land,

as if it is our place to command.

Anger should dominate, rattle the status quo,

protest loud, let the sound reverberate, let it always echo.

    1. Thanks so much Chitkala. I appreciate the comment. I am very frustrated with the direction we are going in, and that is what inspired me. I plan on writing some commentary. I am working on that, but don’t know when I will finish it. I only have it in a draft so far, but it needs more work. Thanks again.

  1. Will try.I have to write more.I have been taking a few days off.
Most of what I put on here was older stuff, that I had already written. Have to get busy, and motivated. I may be in a slump right now, even though I have a lot of ideas and pieces that I have started.
